ETHICS

At Stat Air International, LLC. we are committed to a workplace that is culture-based on ethical principles.  Patient care is provided in a considerate and respectful manner, allowing for expression of personal values and beliefs as long as these do not jeopardize the safety and well being of others.

“DO NOT ARTIFICIALLY RESUSITATE (DNAR)”
Patients who are placed on DNAR status must have a physician’s order and an appropriate entry in the progress notes.  Verbal DNAR orders will not be valid after 24 hours unless signed or rewritten by the physician.

“WITHHOLDING/WITHDRAWAL OF LIFE-SUSTAINING TREATMENT”
It is the physician’s responsibility to document that the patient/legal representative is fully informed of consequences and patient desires.  The physician’s order must specifically state treatments to be withheld or withdrawn.  DNAR and withholding/withdrawing of life-sustaining treatment must address use of advance directive if the patient has one.  Interdisciplinary staff is sensitive to the needs of patients at the end of life, including:

  • PROVIDING COMFORT
  • MAINTAINING DIGNITY
  • RESPECTING VALUES, RELIGION, PHILOSOPHY
  • MANAGING PAIN AGGRESSIVELY AND EFFECTIVELY
  • INVOLVING THE PATIENT, AND WHEN APPROPRIATE, THE FAMILY IN CARE
  • RESPONDING TO THE PSYCHOLOGICAL, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, SPIRITUAL, AND CULTURAL CONCERNS
  • SENSITIVELY ADDRESSING ISSUES SUCH AS AUTOPSY AND ORGAN DONATION
